Inner Knowingness And Pregnancy

Have you ever known something deep within yourself,
even though you didn't have a logical explanation
as to how you could know it?

If so, you may have been experiencing what many people refer to as inner knowingness or intuition.

What is Inner Knowingness?
Intuition and inner knowningness are pretty much the same thing. They refer to sudden insight or a knowingness that comes from within oneself.

There have been times in my life where I have suddenly become aware of something, such as that a loved one had been in a car accident, that I was pregnant, or that my child was in danger, without knowing how I could possibly be aware of this information. It is as if the knowledge suddenly popped into my head in the form of a thought. Yet even though it appeared in my head as a thought, there was no doubt in my mind. I KNEW it to be true. This is inner knowingness.

How does Inner Knowingness help us?
Inner Knowingness can provide us with information that can help us in our daily lives. It can be the insight that suddenly helps us solve a problem. It can prepare us emotionally for news we are about to hear, and sometimes it even alerts us to the need to take specific action, before it's too late. It can also allow us to communicate with our unborn baby.

Who has Inner Knowingness?
With my own personal experiences, the information came to me in the form of a thought. As a child, I would have referred to this type of experience as ESP, and would have seen it as a really strange ability exhibited by only a few. Surely it was something I didn't have, I thought! Yet now I see it in an entirely different light, and it no longer seems all that strange, or mystic, to me. In fact, I've become aware of the fact that it's actually quite common, and can happen to anyone! In fact, I think we all have some degree of inner knowingness.

Inner Knowingness and Pregnancy
Pregnancy and early motherhood are times when women often become aware of a variety of spiritual experiences, including inner knowingness. Several women we've talked to have reported experiences of deep inner knowingness, including being positive they were pregnant even when the doctor told them otherwise, being sure of the gender of the baby inspite of what others predicted, and suddenly having a strong desire to name their baby something that they'd never thought they'd even consider.

Sharing an Inner Dialogue with one's unborn baby
Some women have told us about a special type of inner knowingness which allowed them to experience inner communication in the form of a dialogue with their unborn child. One of the mother's we've spoken with, a lady named Lisa, described her prebirth communication with her two sons like this:

"Mostly it was an inner knowing...no voices or anything. Occasionally I would see images to accompany the knowing. That was how they communicated with me. When I communicated with them, I would talk to them out loud, as well as have a "daydream" type experience...more along the lines of a visual spiritual exercise."

Lisa had conversations with each of her babies during her pregnancies. After her children were born, she was able to confirm much of what they had told her before their birth.

Exercises for Inner Knowingness
1. If you are pregnant at the moment, you may enjoy trying this exercise. Grab paper and pencil - right now - and write a letter to your unborn! Write what is in your heart, what you want to know, what you expect, what is frightening you. Write anything and everything you'd like, but write it with as much enthusiasm as you can. Then put your letter away (in a drawer, or inside your journal, for example) for three days. After three days, open your letter, relax, put yourself into the role of a spokeswoman for your unborn, and answer the letter yourself! As you answer the letter, write whatever comes to you, whether it's in the form of thoughts, images, feelings, or even a song that pops into your head!

2. Following Lisa's example, why not try to initiate an inner dialogue with your baby? Begin by relaxing, perhaps in the bath, in a quiet garden, or in your favorite comfy chair. Quiet your mind and body as much as you can. Then talk out loud to your unborn child. As you talk, allow daydreamy images to come to you. Tell your child you love him. Talk about what it will be like when she is born. Tell him your hopes, your dreams, your goals in life. Ask her questions. If your child were there in person with you, what would you want to say or share? Say it now, to your unborn baby. And don't forget to listen in return. Listen to the thoughts that come into your head. Look for any visual images that may appear. Be aware of any inner feelings you may have.
